I finished this book last night, and i was so sad after i finish this. It was the most heart-breaking novel i have ever read. This is actually a good book for teenagers as the character and the situation fits them more.
13 Reasons why is actually based on 13 people who let her (Hannah Baker) down and who make her heart really shattered. In this book, she talks about each one of their stories and hers and how it all connects. She record all the stories into cassette tape, one side for one person. This cassette was mail to the 13 people after she take her own life.
This book also make me realize the importance of approaching or the way we say things and how we look at others. We cannot judge a person just by rumors, and we also should not be embarrassed/ shy to speak what's in our heart. If in doubt, ask.
I have read a real life story in one of the magazine a few years ago. I think the situation is some what similar to this novel. The girl who was always bullied, who after sometimes, could not take it anymore, feeling more and more disappointed with the world and her life, decided to take her own life. There were also other real-life stories regarding bullies or rumors that cause many teenagers in American to take their own life.
All they left behind was a note stating the reasons why. If only they open up to someone who they can trust or get some help, this might not happen. If only someone would just listen and lend a shoulder, this might not happen.
For those of you who are novel lovers, i would suggest this one. It does not really falls into the genre of love/romance/horror/thriller/comedy, i think it is more to soul type. It is a good book.
